Singing the silence
There are names that endure even when erased. There are bodies that carry history within them, like scars.
Singing the Silence is a hybrid performance by aL3Lux (Lucilla Trapazzo and Alessandro Olla) that follows a non-linear narrative path. It explores the possible connections between sound and poetry, and how the encounter of the two languages creates new semiotic relationships. The performers, using a mixed set of vocals, acoustic instruments and Live Electronics, merge poetry, body, and experimental music to navigate the feminine. From a linear starting point, Trapazzo’s poetry expands along a fragmented path, shaped by sounds: the voice merges and blends with different instruments, creating moments of dialogue and disorientation, in constant evolution.
The stage is a field of tensions: between voice/instruments, body/space, between the said and the unsaid. It becomes an act of resistance, a ritual of transformation, born from silence and scream.
Poetry is not merely recited, it is embodied. The body becomes text, the text becomes flesh, and noise. From the intimacy of a White Room, where the body strips itself bare, to the violence of historical memory, to the dissolution of identity, each segment of the performance is a threshold, a passage, a ritual act of reclamation. The presence of the musician is not incidental but structural, an element of tension and inquiry. The result is a total immersion in a multisensory universe that invites reflection on the ways in which a “word-sign” interacts with sound, a constellation of meanings that unfold in a post-narrative flow, offering a new form of artistic expression.
To “sing the silence” is to cross it, make it visible. It is a political and poetic act, a rewriting of the past through body and sound.
