Biofonie

Biofonie is an immersive sonic experience: a journey through terrestrial and marine soundscapes, reworked and mixed in real time.

The performance unfolds as a narrative in the form of listening, where different biophonies—the sounds present in a natural ecosystem inhabited by living creatures—intertwine into an ever-evolving sonic fabric. Diffused and spatialized across multiple channels, the sound generates dynamic acoustic geometries in which movement becomes an integral part of the composition.

Biofonie is conceived to be experienced seated in a circle, blindfolded and surrounded by speakers, offering an intense and deeply immersive perceptual experience. Beyond proposing a non-conventional mode of listening, the performance invites audiences to rediscover their relationship with the sounds that inhabit our environment: voices of the Earth that speak of our identity and preserve collective memory.

Technical requirements

Sound diffusion: ideal configuration with 8 speakers and 4 subwoofers; adaptable to systems with 6 or 4 speakers and 2 high-quality subwoofers.
Audience accessories: one blindfold per participant.
Space: preferably an enclosed, quiet environment; outdoor settings are possible provided there is no significant noise pollution.
Duration: 45–50 minutes.
