Onde corte (Short waves) – Possible Geographies, 2023

It is an interactive installation that uses video and audio recordings made in different places and countries. The subject of audio and video recordings is always a shortwave radio tuned to stations that broadcast music, voices or noises that come into conflict with the visual panorama or that take it out of the context or highlight it.

The public is invited to use a radio sintony knob to choise and change the videos. The installation offers a reflection, an eager desire to expand the geography, the place where people live and to widen the emotionally side bringing people to other dimensions.

The installation is born by the willing to be at the same time in different places, getting out of geographical boundaries and experiencing the physical space through different perspectives and emotional possibilities. The project currently is made of 46 audio/video recordings of 30 seconds each.

 

Technical requirements
• A darkened environment of at least 3m x 2m with a white wall where project or panel where to project the video.
• A power strip.
• An extension cord.

The author of the work will provide the rest of the material.
