An invitation to reconsider the self’s boundaries and the liminal spaces we inhabit.

Liminal Body is a project by Ivana Balabanova — concept, co-creator and performer — featuring original music performed live with live electronics by Alessandro Olla.

Developed across two distinct editions through artistic residencies: the first in Skopje (North Macedonia), the second in Hamburg. The performance dissolves boundaries between body, voice, sound, and light, revealing the body as a site of perpetual transformation — a liminal entity in constant transition.

Liminal Body: Voices (second edition) delves into shifting emotional landscapes and visceral physicality. Ivana’s resonant voice and Alessandro’s dynamic electronic soundscapes guide the audience through an immersive audiovisual journey, challenging conventional views of the body as static and portraying it as a vessel of continuous transition, questioning belonging, denial, resistance, and liberation.
